Eyes Wide Open - Update 7/14
Jul 14, 2006
11 days until we have 350 boots on the corner of Emerson and Woodin. I saw the event in Philadelphia last summer when over 1700 boots were on display and it moved me deeply. Honor the dead. Seek peace in Iraq. Let's make sure this day is successful.
I'll be away in Colorado this next week for publication release of Straight Into Gay America, so please contact Anne (509-293-0261) to volunteer for these tasks below. Thanks to you who have already contacted us with your offers of help.
Anne and the kids are posting flyers in town today, and also calling local churches to tell them about Eyes Wide Open. Let's get word out in these next days. Please post posters in both Spanish Version and English Version. If you see a venue that doesn't have a poster, prints a few off and get them posted. We took ours to the copy shop and made 50 of each.
8:00 a.m. Set up the boots display at the corner of Emerson and Woodin
9:00 a.m. - 6 p.m. Watch over the display. Would be best to have a person at each corner during the day. What hours can you help?
5:30 p.m. Four people to coordinate moving the boots display from the corners to the Riverwalk Pavilion.
5:30 p.m. Three or four people to make food, bring paper plates and plastic forks, and setup the 6:00 p.m. potluck picnic at Riverwalk Park. Thanks to Kathryn Castrodale for volunteering to help with this. Who can help?
Music and Remarks at the Pavilion: Thanks to Mark Tesh and Jim Allen for setting up the pavilion. Thanks to Rolf Vegdahl for coordinating the evening's music.
9:00 p.m. Three strong people to help Mark Tesh tear down the pavilion sound boards. Three people to to make sure the potluck is cleaned up.
9:00 p.m. Four or more people to help repackage the exhibit for the trip to Wenatchee the next morning.
July 25th will be a big day for Chelan, and a big day for all of us who care about peace in Iraq. Check the list above. See what piece you can grab onto. Call Anne to let her know 509-293-0261.
Thank you all,
